Social Media Marketing Cost in Pakistan: What You Actually Pay Each Month

Five colleagues sitting together indoors, each looking at a smartphone, with faces fully visible

Ask five providers what social media marketing cost in Pakistan looks like and you will get five different answers, from PKR 15,000 a month to PKR 300,000. All five can be telling the truth, because they are not selling the same thing. One is selling a few scheduled posts, another is selling a team, strategy and paid advertising, and a third is quoting a management fee while the ad money itself is billed separately.

This guide untangles the real 2026 numbers, so you can compare quotes properly and set a monthly budget that actually buys results instead of just activity.

Social media marketing cost in Pakistan: the typical monthly ranges

These are the ranges most freelancers and agencies in Pakistan charge in 2026 for management alone, before ad spend. Where you land depends on how many platforms you run, how much video you need, and whether paid ads are managed as well.

  • Freelancer, one platform, basic posts and captions: PKR 8,000 to 30,000 a month
  • Freelancer, one or two platforms with design: PKR 15,000 to 50,000 a month
  • Small agency, one or two platforms, regular posts and light engagement: PKR 25,000 to 60,000 a month
  • Mid-range agency, two or three platforms with short video and reporting: PKR 50,000 to 120,000 a month
  • Full-service agency, multi-platform strategy, video, ads and influencer work: PKR 100,000 to 300,000 a month and upwards
  • In-house social media manager (salary alone, before tools and benefits): PKR 35,000 to 150,000 a month for junior to mid-level hires

What a retainer usually includes, and what it does not

A standard social media management package normally covers a monthly content calendar, graphic design, captions, scheduling and publishing, replying to comments and messages, and a monthly report. Higher tiers add strategy, short-form video and reels, paid campaign management, and regular client calls.

What it almost never includes is the ad spend itself. If an agency quotes PKR 60,000 a month for Meta advertising, that is usually the fee for running the campaigns. The money that actually buys the impressions goes to Meta, TikTok or Google on top, and it should be paid from your own card, into an ad account in your name. Ask this directly before signing: is your fee inclusive or exclusive of ad spend, and who owns the ad account? An agency that owns your ad account owns your audiences and advertising history, and you lose all of it the day you leave.

Other costs that are often billed separately include professional photo or video shoots (roughly PKR 30,000 to 80,000 a day for an on-location crew), influencer collaborations (roughly PKR 10,000 to 50,000 per post for a micro-influencer), and one-off setup such as a brand audit and strategy document (roughly PKR 20,000 to 60,000).

What about ad spend? The second bill nobody quotes first

For a small business in Pakistan, a realistic starting ad budget is PKR 500 to 2,000 a day, which works out to roughly PKR 15,000 to 60,000 a month. Many agencies suggest a minimum of PKR 20,000 to 50,000 a month before a campaign has enough data to optimise properly. Below that, you are buying too few clicks to learn what works.

Paid campaign management, where an agency plans, runs and optimises the ads rather than just posting organically, is commonly charged at PKR 60,000 to 150,000 a month on top of the ad spend. That is why two quotes that both say “social media marketing” can differ by PKR 100,000: one is organic posting, the other is a paid lead-generation machine, and they should never be compared as if they were the same service.

What drives the price up or down

The cheapest quote is often the most expensive one in practice. At PKR 20,000 a month, a provider can afford a few hours of junior time on your account. That is enough to post content. It is not enough to research your market, build a proper campaign, test what works and analyse the results. So the visible work gets done and the work that produces enquiries does not, and three months later you switch providers and start again.

  • Number of platforms: Instagram alone is one job; Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and LinkedIn together need different formats, rhythms and audiences for each, and the hours add up.
  • Video volume: three static graphics a week is far cheaper than daily reels. Short video needs scripting, filming, editing and revisions, which is where costs spike fastest.
  • Industry: fashion, food, real estate and consumer goods are visually competitive and posting-heavy, so standing out takes more content and usually paid ads alongside it.
  • Reporting: a monthly screenshot of follower counts costs nothing to produce. A report that leads with enquiries and what each one cost takes real analysis, and it is the only kind worth paying for.

The part most guides miss: your all-in monthly total, and the destination

Here is the worked example the pricing guides skip. A typical small business in Pakistan running two platforms with a mid-range agency should budget like this: management around PKR 40,000 to 60,000 a month, plus ad spend of around PKR 30,000 a month, for an all-in total of roughly PKR 70,000 to 90,000 a month, plus a one-off setup of PKR 20,000 to 60,000 in the first month. A leaner start, one platform with a freelancer and a small ad budget, can be done for roughly PKR 30,000 to 50,000 all-in. Either way, quote the total, not just the retainer, or your budget will be wrong from month one.

The second thing the guides miss matters even more: fix the destination before you pay for traffic. Social media sends people somewhere, usually your website or your WhatsApp. If the website is slow, confusing or missing prices, or if WhatsApp messages sit unanswered for hours, every rupee of ad spend leaks away. Before you sign a retainer, make sure your website answers what you do, what it costs and how to contact you, and that someone replies to messages within minutes during business hours. Paying for attention before you can catch it is the most common way small businesses waste a social media budget.

A sensible 90-day trial budget

Social media rarely pays in week one. Organic content usually takes three to six months to find its rhythm, while paid ads can bring enquiries within weeks but still need testing. A sensible way to start is a 90-day trial with one agreed metric, such as cost per enquiry, and a review at day 90. Month one is setup, content and testing. Month two is doubling down on the formats that brought enquiries and dropping the ones that did not. Month three is the honest verdict: keep, change or stop. A retainer without a 90-day checkpoint is a subscription, not a service.

Start narrow, too. Most small businesses in Pakistan only need two platforms at first, the ones their actual customers use, not the ones that sound impressive in a pitch. One platform done well beats four done badly, and the money saved funds the ad spend that actually brings enquiries.

Freelancer, agency, or in-house?

There is also a middle path many guides overlook: keep strategy yourself and hire a content-only freelancer for the production. If you know your customers well, that stretches a small budget a long way, as long as the brief is clear. A content creator is not automatically a strategist, and expecting both from one person at a low rate usually produces mediocre results on both fronts.

  • Freelancer (PKR 8,000 to 50,000): cheapest and most flexible, best for one platform and a clearly written scope. The risk is capacity: one person gets busy, falls ill or moves on, and your content stops.
  • Agency (PKR 25,000 to 300,000+): a team, so design, video, strategy and ads are separate skills rather than one person juggling all four. Worth it when you need several skills at once and want someone accountable for enquiries, not just posts.
  • In-house (PKR 35,000 to 150,000+ salary): someone fully embedded in your brand, best once social media needs daily attention. One hire rarely covers design, video, copy and strategy, so expect tools and training on top of the salary.

Questions people ask about social media marketing cost in Pakistan

Does the monthly fee include Facebook and Instagram ad spend? Almost always no. The fee pays for the agency's work; ad spend goes directly to the platform. Get it confirmed in writing before you sign.

How much should a small business budget in total? A lean start is roughly PKR 30,000 to 50,000 a month all-in for one platform with a freelancer and small ad spend. A serious two-platform setup with an agency and ads is roughly PKR 70,000 to 90,000 a month all-in.

How long before social media brings results? Paid ads can bring enquiries within weeks, but organic content usually needs three to six months of consistent posting before you can judge it fairly.

Do I need to be on every platform? No. Start with the one or two platforms your customers actually use. Spreading a small budget across five channels usually produces mediocre results everywhere.

Is a cheap package worth it? Only as a minimum viable presence. At the bottom of the range you are buying scheduled posts and basic captions, not strategy, video or lead generation. Treat it as a presence, not a growth plan.

So, what should you budget?

For most small businesses, a realistic 2026 starting point is PKR 30,000 to 50,000 a month all-in for a lean setup, or PKR 70,000 to 90,000 a month all-in for a two-platform agency setup with ads. What matters more than the exact figure is what is inside it: platforms, post and video volume, who owns the accounts, whether ad spend is separate, and which single metric you will judge it on at day 90.
